Sophie Rogers joined Bracebridge Corporate Finance as an Analyst in March. She provides support on all aspects of transactions, including buyer research, market analysis, valuations and drafting key deal documentation.

Why did you decide to join Bracebridge?

With the hands-on approach to doing deals, Bracebridge is a great place to develop my career in corporate finance and expand on my abilities gained in my previous roles at Transcend and Grant Thornton. Bracebridge has a strong pipeline of opportunities which makes it an exciting time to be joining the team. I have enjoyed every minute so far, and look forward to getting out and meeting clients face to face as soon as possible!

How has it been during lockdown?

I joined Bracebridge just one week before we went into lockdown and so only spent a short period of time in the office in Snow Hill before we had to start working from home. The team have been very supportive during this very uncertain time and we have all adapted to this new normal way of working. Although I do miss the interaction with the rest of the team and meeting with clients face to face. However, I would say that it has worked a lot better than initially anticipated, thanks to Zoom and Teams which has enabled us to continue working with some form of interaction, we have had daily video calls internally and with clients.

As much as I am enjoying working from home and not having to commute, I am very much looking forward to getting back to normal!

Tell us about your previous experience

Most recently I worked as an Executive at Grant Thornton in Birmingham, where I was part of the regional valuations team that focused on company, share and asset valuations for a number of clients of all sizes across all sectors, of which I spent my time on performing valuations that were for both tax and commercial purposes.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton’s valuation team, I worked for Transcend Corporate, an independent corporate finance firm as a Senior Analyst where I gained invaluable deal and client experience.
I am looking forward to drawing on my skills and knowledge that I have gained from these roles to develop and excel in my new role at Bracebridge.

What are your interests outside work?

Outside of the office you are most likely going to find me in the gym and in the warmer months of the year I’ll be running along the canals in Birmingham usually listening to podcasts of all types.
Having spent most of my childhood growing up in Dorset, when I can, I often spend my weekends visiting family and friends taking long walks along the South Coast, something that I took for granted growing up!
